Getting to Know You

Here are some questions for y'all. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to share their thoughts:

1) Do you read and/or write erotic romance? Are you e/published? Were you just googling for free sexy stories and were very disappointed to find yourself here?

2) How often do you visit the EREC site or this blog? What content do you like and what do you think could be added or improved? What would you like to see more of?

3) We have tried to survey all 44 e-publishers on out list but only 17 responded. Do you think that sending vampire plot bunnies to their homes would get their attention?

4) What is your star sign, Chinese year animal and favorite color? If we are compatible and you have lots of money, will you marry me?

5) What one thing, to do with erotic romance epublishing, did you wish you had known a whole lot earlier?

6) What is the last ebook (if any) that your read? What print book is physically closest to you right now and what does that say about you?

7) What would I have to do to get you to guest blog here next Friday. Bribes, pleading, vampire plot bunnies making menacing insinuations?

8) Am I asking too many questions?

9) Did you "get" the Tale of Two Kitties as referring to the relative sales figures of offset print run and e-published books? (i.e. 'the long tail' refers to ebooks remaining available for purchase indefinitely rather than going out of print).

10) Would you like a martini?

1) Do you read and/or write erotic romance? Are you e/published? Were you just googling for free sexy stories and were very disappointed to find yourself here?

Write. Yes. No.

2) How often do you visit the EREC site or this blog? What content do you like and what do you think could be added or improved? What would you like to see more of?

It's on my Bloglines feed, so I visit whenever there's a new post. I love the industry-related content. "Author Mills" was a great post, for example.

3) We have tried to survey all 44 e-publishers on out list but only 17 responded. Do you thin that sending vampire plot bunnies to their homes would get their attention?

Offer an incentive, perhaps?

4) What is your star sign, Chinese year animal and favorite color? If we are compatible and you have lots of money, will you marry me?

Aries. Dunno. Blue. Don't have lots of money, so that's moot.

5) What one thing, to do with erotic romance epublishing, did you wish you had known a whole lot earlier?

That I really don't like the "romance" part of "erotic romance." And, I get highly annoyed with the romance Nazis who insist on formula.

6) What is the last ebook (if any) that your read? What print book is physically closest to you right now and what does that say about you?

Steve Berry's The Alexandria Link. Alan Russell's Political Suicide. Both are authors I met at last year's La Jolla Writer's Conference & I plan to leave reviews on Amazon for them as a means of sucking up.

7) What would I have to do to get you to guest blog here next Friday. Bribes, pleading, vampire ploy bunnies making menacing insinuations?

Not sure it's possible for me to guest blog next Friday (nor that you'd want me to), but when my schedule opens up, I'd be happy to.

8) Am I asking too many questions?

No. You're aiding & abetting a procrastination.

9) Did you "get" the Tale of Two Kitties as referring to the relative sales figures of offset print run and e-published books? (i.e. 'the long tail' refers to ebooks remaining available for purchase indefinitely rather than going out of print).

No. I didn't finish reading it because I assumed it was just a pet thing.

10) Would you like a martini?

Don't like gin. I would, however, like linked in your sidebar. I added EREC to mine.

Blog added. If you asked me to do that before and I forgot, apologies :)

1) Do you read and/or write erotic romance? Are you e/published? Were you just googling for free sexy stories and were very disappointed to find yourself here?

Write it (M/M only). Yes. No.

2) How often do you visit the EREC site or this blog? What content do you like and what do you think could be added or improved? What would you like to see more of?

You're on my Blogroll. I love the posts about various publishers and market/submission calls. I would like to see more of those posted.

3) We have tried to survey all 44 e-publishers on out list but only 17 responded. Do you thin that sending vampire plot bunnies to their homes would get their attention?

I'm not big on vamps. Maybe you could offer a free ad for so many days/weeks/months if they replied?

4) What is your star sign, Chinese year animal and favorite color? If we are compatible and you have lots of money, will you marry me?

Aquarius (born on the cusp of Capricorn, moon-sign Virgo, ascendant Cancer, but I don't follow that!); Tiger (wood, to be exact); blue and/or gray. If same-sex marriage were legal and we were compatible yes, I'd marry you. But if you're holding out for the lots of money bit, you'll be waiting forever!

5) What one thing, to do with erotic romance epublishing, did you wish you had known a whole lot earlier?

That it was even around. I've been writing and self-publishing for 5 years now and only realized that I could get into epublishing the past six months or so.

6) What is the last ebook (if any) that your read? What print book is physically closest to you right now and what does that say about you?

I have never read an ebook (ducks the hail of bullets suddenly barrelling my way). I prefer print books and am currently reading "About the Author" by John Colapinto. The closest print book to me is a baby names book, not because I'm preggers but because I'm researching character names.

7) What would I have to do to get you to guest blog here next Friday. Bribes, pleading, vampire ploy bunnies making menacing insinuations?

Just ask real nice, and maybe coerce me with a link to my site. I'm a sucker for reciprocal linkage.

8) Am I asking too many questions?

Eh. Perhaps.

9) Did you "get" the Tale of Two Kitties as referring to the relative sales figures of offset print run and e-published books? (i.e. 'the long tail' refers to ebooks remaining available for purchase indefinitely rather than going out of print).

Um, no. Then again, I usually have to be hit over the head with an analogy to get it.

10) Would you like a martini?

I'm allergic to olives. If you have any straight up whiskey though, I'm game.

Blog added. I am always happy to add blogs, sometimes I require a little reminding with a sharp stick--and then you have to hope I don't see anything sparkly before getting the template open.

yes. yes. no

2) How often do you visit the EREC site or this blog? What content do you like and what do you think could be added or improved? What would you like to see more of?

I've been blog hopping (procrastinating) frequently of late so I stop by everyday.

3) We have tried to survey all 44 e-publishers on out list but only 17 responded. Do you think that sending vampire plot bunnies to their homes would get their attention?

That's a tough one. Maybe threaten them with oodles of bad slush instead

4) What is your star sign, Chinese year animal and favorite color? If we are compatible and you have lots of money, will you marry me?

Aquarius, Dog, I have a whopping $7 to my name today. Now, if YOU'RE comfortably well off, we can chat.

5) What one thing, to do with erotic romance epublishing, did you wish you had known a whole lot earlier?

I can't think of anything at the moment.

6) What is the last ebook (if any) that your read? What print book is physically closest to you right now and what does that say about you?

It was from EC, an m/m. The title escapes me it had something to do with a horse trainer...Slow Ride or something like that.

7) What would I have to do to get you to guest blog here next Friday. Bribes, pleading, vampire plot bunnies making menacing insinuations?

Vampire plot bunnies are my friends. You don't wan tme to guest blog I'm dreadfully dull.

8) Am I asking too many questions?

Heck no.

9) Did you "get" the Tale of Two Kitties as referring to the relative sales figures of offset print run and e-published books?

Got it the moment I saw "Offset".

10) Would you like a martini?

Thank you no. If you have a rum & Coke handy, I'll think about it.

Ooooh you have a bunyip on your site, and I hate to admit it, but I've NEVER had a martini. I think it's the whole olive in a drink thing. I mean, maybe they should shove the whole greek salad in there, then I'd be tempted.

Yes, I write erotic romance and am epublished. The sex stories one, not so much. *g*

2) How often do you visit the EREC site or this blog? What content do you like and what do you think could be added or improved? What would you like to see more of?

Way too often to be good for my work scehdule. *g*

3) We have tried to survey all 44 e-publishers on out list but only 17 responded. Do you think that sending vampire plot bunnies to their homes would get their attention?

I wish I knew what to tell you on this one. You'd think they would respond. How long does it really take to fill out a survey?

4) What is your star sign, Chinese year animal and favorite color? If we are compatible and you have lots of money, will you marry me?

Cancer and pink. Chinese animal? Not a clue.

5) What one thing, to do with erotic romance epublishing, did you wish you had known a whole lot earlier?

Everything. It's amazing how little information is really out there for what happens after you're accepted. I went in blind as a bat.

6) What is the last ebook (if any) that your read? What print book is physically closest to you right now and what does that say about you?

The last ebook I read was Laying a Ghost by Jane Davitt and Alexa Snow. Print? My bookshelf is across the room, there's a ton on it. *g*

7) What would I have to do to get you to guest blog here next Friday. Bribes, pleading, vampire ploy bunnies making menacing insinuations?

I'm already here on Mondays. By Friday all I can think of is bills and grocery shopping. You wouldn't want me to blog. :)

8) Am I asking too many questions?

What Alessia said. *g*

9) Did you "get" the Tale of Two Kitties as referring to the relative sales figures of offset print run and e-published books?

Yep. Thought it was very cute.

10) Would you like a martini?

How about four or five? One's just a tease.

1)I read much to much of it (and everything else) and I write as well. I think I found you guys via Mandi's blog?

2) Visit each day (via Net News Wire) to see if anything interesting pops up - your my window to the gossip of publishing :)

3)Are they the best 17?

4) Gemini, Ox, black and all the pretty bright sparkly things.

5) What one thing, to do with erotic romance epublishing, did you wish you had known a whole lot earlier?

6) It was a recent EC one, I think. Does Creepy Beetles count?

7) I might be convinced..WTF would I write about?

8) Hey if you don't ask, you don't get!

9) I hadn't - I realized the eBook/print comparison, but I'm such a noob when it comes to just how the publishing world works behind the scenes (though the 'moral' of the story is pure logic!

10) Could you make it a daquari?

gah! i don't know what to do about those surveys. i'm totally surprised that 2 publishers who know me didn't respond. we're not friends or anything, but they at least know my name. so i know my survey didn't get dumped in the spam filter. booo!
