On HuffPo Arielle Ford posts the bold title: Selecting a Self-Publisher Is Like Finding the Right Nanny. Because your manuscript is "your essence, your being, your barely born baby".
Except it isn't. And if it was, you would be a morally bankrupt baby machine selling your offspring to anyone who can afford it regardless of whether they will treasure the little brat for life, or use it as garden mulch.
No matter which publishing model you follow, at some point you have to sell the baby. So, when you think about it, the whole baby metaphor is in rather bad taste.
