Puzzle me this...

An author giving their own book a five star rating is tacky, but not inexplicable.

But why would an author give their own book 2-stars?

(Gwyn Lacy is openly a pseudonym of Gwen Hankins).

Nothing wrong with an author rating their own work. It's up to reader to decide if their humble or objective!!!

She admits it's a first draft, in progress, and is looking for feedback. :-) Yeah, I'd rate my first drafts low, too.

Either that or she's heard the books which get lowball reviews sell better in some cases because people get curious about -why- the book was given a poor rating like that.

It was published in 2008 and she rated it in 2012, I don't see her saying it is a first draft--or how it could be?

It's a few years old, so maybe she just doesn't like it any more. Odd though, to share that opinion.

She rated one of her others 4 stars. I don't use goodreads, but is there a "recently reviewed" search or list? *bump*?

Maybe she's feuding with the publisher. She isn't listed as an author on their website anymore.

Maybe it's an attempt to stir up a controversy and gain the publicity that comes with it?
