What? You're supposed to submit so that they can post your work for free??? Who in their right mind would do that?

And they charge for ad space to make money.

On their side of things, they've got little startup costs and a way to make money running an ad site. Review sites (coffee time etc.) do the same, only with reviews instead of free stories. Worth a shot. If it bombs, it's not like they're out the cash for ISBNs or anything.

It's an interesting concept, but not one I'd really buy into. If I'm going to offer an unedited short as promo for my other works, I'll pdf it myself and put it up on my blog. For free.

I'm leery of any site that's purportedly for readers, but has the submission and advertising links BEFORE the materials readers might be interested in. Also, any site where there's no "about us" type of page, nothing at all to indicate that the owners of the site have some expertise in the relevant subject matter.

You all make valid points, and I understand your concerns. However, I (Regina Paul) am one of the owners of the site, and I'm a published romance author. If anyone has questions about me, or please feel free to contact me using the information below.

In the meantime, I want to assure everyone there is nothing deceptive going on here. I wanted a way to draw more readers to my own works and along with another author came up with the idea. My thought is to help both myself, my fellow authors, and yes provide something for readers. There is advertising space, but it's not adsense or any of that other stuff that makes websites look like crap. It's space for author's covers, and or banners only. And yes it's to help defray costs. However, since I didn't think it was fair to ask an author to give me (us) one of their babies without some sort of compensation, I came up with the idea of, at least initially, giving one free month of premium advertising for the author's latest release.

We have the information about what authors get for submitting on the front page because that is critical right now to our success. Presently we have stories from authors such as Linda Sole and jj Keller, and I of course have a story as well.

Oh, and we've moved up the grand opening to November 1, 2008 and extended the deadline to October 31, 2008 to take advantage of the free month of advertising.

Again, please don't hesitate to contact me personally with questions or concerns. I'm more than happy to help.
