The author-publisher thing is the only part that I’m going to comment on. If the publishing company is primarily there to carry any one author, don’t go there. If the publishing company exists to make money for authors as well as the publisher, then consider going there.

My own philosophy is that my books are only important to any publishing company, including the one I co-own, in that they make money for the company. It means that my author ego for my books has to go to the back of the line. Yeah, yeah, I know. Sucks to be me.
