Okay, Inkspell

...in the guidelines for your Passion imprint, what exactly does this mean:

"Steamy sex but not erotic (ménage, m/m, etc.)"

I am not sure what is worse, saying heterosexually it not erotica, or that homosexuality is never steamy.  Like gay people don't kiss under the mistletoe and hold hands in the street--they go straight from "hi, my name is Sam", to bend over while I fist you with a cantaloupe.

Orientation and levels of graphic/explicit depiction are independent factors.  If you are not interested in same sex romance submission, just say so.  Don't imply that it is because they are too extreme.

Blogger/Blogspot Bans "Graphic Nudity"

Image: pecanpleguy
Erotic romance authors using Blogger (which is the host of this blog) need to keep a very close eye on recent development.  Google has updated their policy on this platform.

Specifically you may not show: "...images and video that are sexually explicit or show graphic nudity on Blogger."

If your blog contains such material and it is not removed, you blog will be made your blog will be made private after March 23, 2015.

As usual this leave open the question of just what constitutes graphic nudity, but those wish to remain with Blogger would be well-advised to err on the side of caution.

Jewel vs NSA

Jewel vs NSA is an ongoing landmark suit challenging the behavior of ATT in funneling email traffic to the NSA without prior cause or warrant.  The current regime has tried repeatedly to bury the case by claiming that hearing it would expose state secrets.

So far the suit, filed in 2008, continues to be neither be heard nor quashed and continues in a disputed limbo of legalities. Although it struck a considerable obstacle to progress a few weeks ago.

I draw your attention to this case not only because of its overall importance in finding the balance between legitimate government surveillance and individual rights to privacy, but also as a shout out to the conspicuous role played by plaintiff, Carolyn Jewel.  Who, as it happens, it a member of the romance writing community.

MARKET: Blue Tulip

Blue Tulip (Facebook) is a multi-genre publisher including sensual and sweet romance. The company is registered to Nathan Van Dyken.

They describe themselves as a "boutique indie publishing house."  I frankly have no idea what that means.

Galt claims Gaslighting

Steve Buscemi/ Galt Niederhoffer -- bradalmanac / Foter
Galt Niederhoffer, author of prominent contemporary romances including "The Romantics" and "Love and Happiness", is embroiled in a court case where truth really is stranger than fiction.

In a tense custody battle her ex-partner claims Neiderhoffer suffers mental illness and Neiderhoffer claims he is deliberately setting her up. Specifically, according to media reports, by trying to convince her that she is insane by a process made famous in the movie Gaslight.

In the court of public opinion Neiderhoffer's claims that her partner, amongst others things, attempted to poison her with arsenic seem to be receiving an awkward and skeptical reception.
