Too Polite Sometimes = Rude

Foundations Books has -- if I am interpreting it correctly -- the most awkwardly phrased "no gay" submission guideline I have ever seen.

"We apologize, but we are currently not accepting stories of M/M or W/W. Unfortunately, we currently do not have anyone on staff who has a point of reference in order to do our best by you and your work. Should this change and you would like to be considered, please send us an email letting us know and we will be happy to notify you at such time."

I know people do not want to offend by it seems to me that stating "we are not accepting gay or lesbian fiction at this time" is the least bad option.  It beats implying that you find it significantly harder to comprehend a gay character than an alien one (they do accept science fiction and fantasy). Or they could just accept diverse character within the human race as well as outside it.
